Samantha Caputo

Samantha joined NEEP in 2016 and is a unicorn, working to support a wide variety of NEEP’s efforts. Samantha oversees the building decarbonization public policy work, including management of the Regional Energy Efficiency Database (REED), facilitates the Home Energy Labeling Information eXchange (HELIX) project, and works on building energy rating and labeling. Samantha helps advance energy efficiency through tracking and analyzing policy trends in the Northeast & Mid-Atlantic region, providing technical assistance to state and local programs, and advancing knowledge and best practices across sectors. 

Prior to joining NEEP, Samantha was involved in grassroots campaigning on energy issues in Massachusetts and worked on the Worcester Smart Energy Solutions Pilot with National Grid. Samantha has experience in state, regional, and local regulations and policies in advanced efficiency strategies. She completed an accelerated degree program at Clark University, graduating in 2015 with a B.A. in Global Environmental Studies and Spanish, and in 2016 with a M.S. in Environmental Science and Policy.


Q: Name one thing you cannot live without:

A: The ocean. It is my happy place.

Q: What’s something about you that would surprise us?

A: I have a tattoo of an airplane on my ankle

Q: If you could spend one week anywhere in the world, where would it be? Why?

A: I would go to Thailand because you can get a little bit of everything. From exploring the jungle and seeing elephants, to spicy street food in Bangkok, and unlimited beach hopping.
